Helio Castroneves won the mirrorball trophy on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” the other night, but he lost his fiancee, Miami jewelry designer Aliette Vazquez.
Less than a day after Castroneves was declared the winner, Vazquez announced she had called off her engagement to the Brazilian race-car driver.
“There’s been a lot of rumors and a lot of stuff said, and she just wanted confirmed that they are no longer engaged. There’s no animosity, there’s nothing mean. Just a simple confirmation,” Vazquez’s publicist Howard Bragman said yesterday.
Hey Helio, congratulations on winning Dancing With The Stars; now best of luck finding a new fiancée. The word on the street is that Castroneves was very cagey about the whole fiancée situation during the show. That’s strike one. Strike two: the chemistry between Helio and his dance partner Julianne Hough. We think the rule from paired figure skating can be applied here. Either the pair is a couple or the guy is gay. That applies in 90% of competitive cases. And strike three was the dramatic finish with a kiss. This guy’s fiancée (Ms. Vazquez) had to have been humiliated. At any rate, we’re a little surprised that Helio even entered this competition. He races for a great IndyCar team and has 12 career victories in 97 races. Pretty good, right? Usually the stars on the show are, um, on the rebound and the pro athletes are retired. Maybe he’s planning for life after racing. He should start planning for life without his girlf.
