Britney Spears Bumps Into K-Fed's Lawyer At A Bar

From AccessHollywood.com

LOS ANGELES
, Calif. (November 5, 2007) – You never know who you’ll run into while out and about in Hollywood – just ask Britney.

In the midst of her typical Hollywood hot spot-hopping over the weekend, Britney Spears ran into the most unlikely of fellow bar patrons – her ex-husband’s attorney.

A source close to K-Fed’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, confirmed to Access Hollywood that while Kaplan was at the bar inside the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Britney walked in the door and the two came face-to-face.

“Nothing to worry about. I’m not on duty,” Kaplan told Britney, according to our source.

Tango’s Take
What is the etiquette for meeting your ex’s lawyer at a bar after an acrimonious divorce? Is it like when celebrities that don’t know each other nod when they see one another at LAX? If we were on the losing end of a divorce beating, we probably wouldn’t stay at a bar with the other team. This is especially the case when the other side used guerrilla tactics (like issuing subpoenas at parties) to win. Fletch was pretty sure that his lawyer was sleeping with his (Fletch’s) wife during the divorce proceedings. We wonder if that was part of the K-Fed victory strategy.

The legal process of divorce begins by filing a petition or complaint with the court. To file this case, you should take your documents to the proper family court. Most states require that either you or your spouse live in a particular state for a period of time before they allow divorce filing.
State laws vary but typically, you may file for divorce in the county where you or your spouse lives, or where you lived at the time before your separation. The petition or complaint is the main document that you’ll need to file for a divorce. For complaints, the “plaintiff” is the spouse submitting the complaint and “defendant” refers to the other party. While for petitions, the spouse filing divorce is called the “petitioner” while the other spouse is called the “respondent.”
