The financier, whose consorts have included Elizabeth Hurley and Princess Diana, has become a fast friend of model, chef and actress Padma Lakshmi.
Their mouthpieces maintain that the two are not dating. But that hasn't stopped some from noticing that Forstmann has appeared in Lakshmi's life just as her husband, author Salman Rushdie, is leaving it.
Reps say the 67-year-old tycoon and the 36-year-old host of Bravo's "Top Chef" have been meeting simply because she's become a client of Forstmann's International Management Group, the sports and entertainment marketing giant.
Maybe Padma Lakshmi likes having successful, older men around. Who doesn’t? Ted Forstmann is a cool dude. Who wouldn’t want to hang out with him? Padma’s on her way to being single and getting some one on one time with the guy that runs one of the most successful talent agencies on the planet can’t hurt a young TV star’s career. We just hope that Salman Rushdie doesn’t get uppity about this. Forstmann may know some bad dudes. The kind that might make vague threats and make someone feel pressured to live in a concrete bunker. Whatever, everyone will probably just get over it.
Speaking of Chefs:
Sting was ordered to pay $51,000 to his ex-chef for sexual discrimination. We were intrigued. We were thinking that Sting was now incorporating food into his Tantra. Not so much; apparently Sting’s wife (Trudie Styler) wasn’t thrilled that their food preparer was pregnant and let her know it. Hmm. Some people must not know that they serve at the pleasure of their betters. $51,000 is a pittance for the Stinger.
