"I'm not sure when or why the tabloid angle on me was decided that I am a cad," the Scrubs star writes on his MySpace blog. "I would have much rather it had been that I am secretly a dentist or that I love soup."
That "stuff" could include reports that he was spotted "all over yet another hot young blonde" (the New York Post) and has been "deploying pickup lines such as 'You have a nice bottom' and 'You have a hot bod' " (Radar online).
“No, no, you don’t understand. I was merely acting. You see, I am preparing for a role in which I play a sensitive guy that makes lots of understated observations about the world around him. He’s secretly selfish and just wants everyone to love him.” It’s hard to have much beef with Zach Braff (other than he plays the same character in everything). And he’s just a young, rich, famous dude. If he does make ‘Nice ass!’ comments, they’re probably sincere. Failing that, he probably feels obligated to make his buddies laugh or is so turned off by fame that he uses the most boorish pick-up lines possible to see where the line is (and if he's crossed it). We’re betting that he even goes out incognito to see if those lines work for a normal dude. Listen, please don’t mistake us for Braff-apologists. We think that he needs to show more range in the future and avoid boo-hoo-hoo fests like The Last Kiss. We also think that if he is guilty of caddish behavior that he should probably start hanging out with Colin Farrell more often and see how it’s really done. The problem with these rumors is that both responding and ignoring them are signs of guilt. Oh, well at least we have one more season of Scrubs before we probably never seem him again.
